A 2-step paint correction is a process of restoring and rejuvenating a vehicle's paint by removing surface imperfections through two stages of polishing. The first stage, often referred to as "cutting" or "compounding," uses a more abrasive polish and pad combination to address deeper scratches, swirl marks, and other defects. The second stage, "polishing," employs a finer polish and pad combination to refine the finish, remove any remaining imperfections, and enhance the overall gloss and shine.
After the polishing stages, many detailers will apply a sealant or wax or ceramic coating to protect the newly corrected paint and enhance its durability.
